Since 2000, the AAMC has been honored to cooperate with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in cooperation agreements that facilitate a wide range of activities aimed at improving and improving cooperation between academic medicine and public health, supporting improved teaching of population health concepts and providing hands-on experience at the community level. Both sides agreed that better coordination between medicine and public health would help improve the health of the population. The CDC and the Brazilian Ministry of Health are cooperating under the U.S. State Department`s Joint Action Plan for the Elimination of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination and the Promotion of Equality (JAPER), a binational agreement signed in 2008. The AAMC`s strategic plan takes a clear view of the environment, sets priorities, sets common goals, agrees on expected results and charts an effective path for the future. Previous cooperation agreements have encouraged the participation of the academic medical community in the CDC`s efforts to prevent and combat diseases, injuries and disabilities. AAMC member institutions have gained broader participation in the CDC`s extraterrestrial research activities and through internal projects led by the AAMC. “We had 4,500 candidates last year and we interviewed 650,” Lenz said. “Without an interview, you can`t have a place in medical school. This agreement formalizes what is called the legacy program, and if the candidate is one of TROY, we make sure that he receives an interview. This is a real step forward and an opportunity for them to show what they can do and how they can contribute to it.
