Having common goals and values is one of the criteria for creating strategic partnerships. However, in the case of Russia and China, it is more relevant to argue that SPs are based on common interests and the idea that the relationship is beneficial to both parties. The parties are working to open negotiations for a specific agreement to strengthen readmission obligations, including the readmission of third-country nationals and stateless persons. 1. The parties will cooperate to promote sustainable growth and development of trade and investment among themselves in the mutual interest, as provided for by a comprehensive economic and trade agreement. 1. In the area of judicial cooperation in criminal matters, the parties are working to strengthen cooperation in mutual legal aid and extradition, on the basis of relevant international instruments. The parties are also working within their expertise and expertise to strengthen existing mechanisms and, where appropriate, are considering setting up new mechanisms to facilitate international cooperation in this area. These include, if necessary, adherence to and implementation of relevant international instruments, as well as closer cooperation with Eurojust.
This part of the partnership recognises that the fight against terrorism is a common priority and states that Canada and the EU will work together to intensify counter-terrorism efforts. This article analyses the main areas of cooperation between the EU and its main strategic partners, as well as the objectives of these bilateral agreements. It also looks at the future and possible EU partnership and cooperation agreements in the coming years. CONSIDERING that the provisions of this agreement that fall within the scope of the third part, Title V, of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, the United Kingdom and Ireland, as separate contracting parties, and not as members of the European Union, unless the European Union has jointly communicated to Canada, with the United Kingdom and/or Ireland, that the United Kingdom or Ireland is bound by Protocol 21 on the position of the United Kingdom and Ireland on the area of freedom, security and justice annexed to the Treaty on the European Union and the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. If the United Kingdom and/or Ireland are no longer bound as an integral part of the European Union under Article 4 bis of Protocol 21, the European Union, together with the United Kingdom and/or Ireland, immediately informs Canada of any change in its position, while remaining bound by the provisions of the agreement itself.
